Below is a letter from Wally Behan, minister of St John’s, Latimer Sq, Christchurch, which will give a little background to why we set this up.
Many years ago, when we began to take seriously, the lack of young people in our church communities, the need to train those young people we DID have .. was paramount. We listened with envy, to those colleagues in Sydney, who sent their young people once a year, to KYLC .. Katoomba Youth Leaders Camp. Then one day, we took the decision to pay for the fares of some of our own Youth .. and send them to join the three thousand others at Katoomba. We did that for five or six years. Our aim however, was to begin YLC, here in New Zealand, and three years ago, we made our first small steps in that direction. It is also cheaper to fly the leaders of KYLC to Christchurch to train our youth, so now that we have some ‘trained’ strand leaders .. we hope more people will encourage their own Youth Leaders, to attend this useful course.

It’s already popular, and places are limited .. so get in early if you have young people you wish to train to use the Bible properly, to encourage because they get to share quality time with others in their age group .. and to make friends that will last them through their walk as Christians in our country.

I really cannot recommend this course highly enough. Each year, one of three ‘strands’ will be available, so commitment is needed in the young people, because the benefit to them accrues as they complete each section. Please read the enclosed brochures to find out more about this years speakers, the time and the costs.

Your’s faithfully,

Wally Behan
